Lloyd’s of London

From small beginnings in a coffee shop, Lloyds of London now inhabits what some Londoners call the ‘Coffee Machine’! Edward Lloyd was the coffee merchant who kept a City of London coffee house in the 17th century, where a group of men met and began to insure each others maritime shipping ventures. Over the years, Lloyd’s of London became a major insurance underwriters and in the early 1980′s commissioned a new building at One Lime Street, designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership. This virtual tour shows a view of the building from Lime Street, EC3.
