Routemaster Bus

One of London’s most famous sights, Routemaster Buses were introduced in 1956 and were London’s workhorses until they were at last retired in 2005 (though 16 still run on 2 central London ‘heritage routes’). They were loved by passengers for the ease with which they could hop on and off the open back. Paying was speedy too, as passengers paid the conductor, not the driver. This Routemaster bus is owned by a specialist bus company, who hire it out for tours and events, where it is always a much-enjoyed part of the proceedings.
