Built in 1963, Millbank Tower on the banks of the River Thames is well known as a political base – the Labour Party ran its General Election campaign for 1997 here and continued to occupy the Tower as Labour Headquarters until 2003. Since 2006, the Conservative Party have based their headquarters in the complex. It was this tenancy that caused Millbank Tower to become a focus point in the student protests of late 2010, where students stormed the tower and made their way to the roof to protest against the rise in tuition fees.
Eye Revolution have also occupied the roof of Millbank Tower – albeit briefly! We were commissioned by Altitude 360 – London’s largest skyscraper event space – to create a series of London aerial panoramas, captured over the course of one day. The 360 aerial panoramas show how the light changes as evening closes in over the capital. Zoom in and out to view and identify the London landmarks visible from this stunning riverside location.
