KLM World Business Class Virtual Tour

A business class virtual tour from the seat

Eye Revolution created a business class virtual tour for KLM to showcase their World Business Class cabin. The brief was simple. Put customers in the seat, let them explore at their own pace, and make the benefits obvious without a brochure.

What better way to show customers and prospects the benefits of World Business Class than to put them into the seat and let them explore it in their own time. We created a high definition 360 degree virtual tour from the seat itself for use in advertising on the WeChat app in China. WeChat is one of the world’s biggest standalone apps, with over a billion users, connecting people all over the world.

About the cabin

KLM’s refreshed cabin offers more personal space and the airline’s first lie-flat seats on this fleet. There are fewer seats for greater comfort, privacy canopies, 17 inch screens and a very sweet sustainability story is that the carpets are all made from recycled materials, including old KLM stewardess uniforms!

What travellers can explore

From the seat position you can look around the suite, check storage, privacy and screen reach, and see how the layout works when the bed is flat. Information points highlight comfort features, seat controls, power, lighting and stowage so customers know exactly what to expect on board.

There were two 360’s captured for this project, a business class virtual tour and an economy class tour.

Where the tour was used

The 360 was deployed in advertising on WeChat in China, giving KLM a mobile-first way to demonstrate the product inside one of the world s most used apps. A second panorama captured the refreshed economy cabin for the wider campaign.

Why a business class virtual tour helps airlines

  • Shows the product truthfully on mobile, tablet and desktop
  • Reduces guesswork for premium customers comparing cabins
  • Supports sales teams and travel trade with a consistent demo tool
  • Re-uses cleanly across web, media, lounges and email

Project notes

It was a great delight to work with the brand & marketing teams, whose pride and genuine enthusiasm for their aircraft and the KLM new World Business Class cabin was utterly infectious.

Cabin shoots rely on precision so the experience feels natural in 360. Surfaces must read cleanly at close range and at distance, and colour needs to be accurate for fabrics and finishes. The result here is a clear, honest view of KLM’s premium experience. If you would like to discuss an aircraft interior or airline cabin tour, we would be delighted to help, so please do get in touch.

Aircraft cabins are unforgiving spaces to shoot well. You are working in tight aisles with reflective surfaces, mixed lighting and complex geometry. Every surface must be sharp and true – whether it is 30 centimetres from the lens or three metres away, so focus, alignment and colour accuracy matter more than ever. We manage reflections on set, then hand-finish each panorama so lines are straight, joins are clean and fabrics read correctly on screen. Explore more examples on our aircraft virtual tours page here.
