2025 in review

In the run up to Christmas, we wanted to share some thoughts on what has been a momentous year for most industries, including ours.

We built our first commercial 360 back in 2000 (back then we were called ‘Digital Dream World’!) using Apple’s QTVR software – which was an absolute breakthrough. We’d been making 360s before this, but suddenly, we weren’t dependent on darkrooms or tortuous Photoshop workarounds. The right technology, used well, can change what is possible – an idea that we’ve always borne in mind.

The year in review

In 2025, the tools look very different, but it’s not an entirely revolutionary story. AI has become a meaningful part of our workflow this year, not as a headliner, but as a practical assistant. We can prototype and test ideas faster, and thus spend more time on the creative decisions that really matter, much like the shift to fully digital workflows years ago.

We are also seeing the industry itself change. We’re noticing a move away from one-size-fits-all solutions toward higher resolution, properly photographed 360 imagery. Platforms like Matterport remain a valuable tool, particularly for property sales, but there is growing recognition that image quality, control, and longevity matter when aiming to create experiences that are built to last. Some of the biggest projects we’ve worked on this year were clients replacing tours they’d previously had done by one-shot system platforms, because they wanted something that represented their space beautifully and accurately.

Virtual tours have continued to prove their value this year, not just as a marketing tool, but as a practical way to reduce unnecessary site visits. Fewer journeys mean less time lost, better decision making earlier in the process, and often a proven reduction in our clients’ environmental impact. It is encouraging to see this become part of the conversation rather than an afterthought.

Our workflows have become more streamlined, but our approach to the essentials of what we do has not changed in over 2 decades. We prize creativity, craftsmanship, and close collaboration with our clients. Technology may continue to move on apace, but creativity and attention to detail will always remain at the heart of everything we do.

Looking ahead to 2026

We’re excited to start the new year. We’ve got some great shoots already booked in January and February which we’ll be delighted to share later in the year. During the year we plan a continued exploration of emerging tools, enabling us to offer our clients richer immersive experiences, and better ways to connect brands, spaces, and people.

Thank you to everyone who worked with us this year. We are grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us, the collaborative way we get to work with our clients, and the opportunities to work in bringing some amazing spaces to life online.

Wishing you and your families a very merry Christmas and a fantastic start to the new year ahead!

With warmest seasons greetings from Will & the Eye Revolution team
